New Smyrna Beach High School Students, Edgewater's Elk's Lodge and "Gifts of Love" benefit greatly from CSI Natural's "Contribution Program".

Approximately 1 year ago CSI Natural was approached by Edgewater's Elk's Lodge to assist in implementing a raised-bed garden program at their facility. Being a little too green then, CSI Natural was not prepared for the request and consequently unable to accommodate the Elk's Lodge. Now, being better prepared for these types of requests, CSI Natural spear headed a "Contribution Program" to help specific groups within the community achieve their goals. So far, the achievements have been tremendous and the rewards are very obvious.

After being contacted again by the Elk's Lodge to participate this year (2012), CSI Natural was exposed to the capacity of their project. Quit simply, the Edgewater Elk's Lodge is doing wonderful things to help New Smyrna Beach High School Students and the local community. Using donated plants from LIndley's Nursery, citrus trees from VerdeGo and CSI Natural Spent Compost, the Elks Lodge made their dream a reality. Their primary focus, make high school students aware of the the benefits of growing their own food and/or purchasing only locally grown produce as well as how to prepare the food within the kitchen. Let's not forget, the students are contributing to the cause by assisting in the garden with plantings and harvests. The best part, once harvested, all of the food is then delivered to a local food bank known as, "Gifts of Love".

"Gifts of Love" collects donated food and distributes the food to people in need within Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Samsula and Oak Hill. "Gifts of Love" is working very hard to reduce the number of hungry residents within our community. Simply put, working together as a team makes gardens produce food, students are exposed to valuable skill sets and residents, young and old, with very basic needs receive assistance in the form of food to eat. Proof that if the community works together and is smart about the approach, anything is possible!
